Thomas J. Laessig is owner and president of Fidelity Federal Retirement Plans (FFRP), Fidelity Federal Planning Corporation (FFP) and TL Insurance Services. Tom has been working in retirement planning since 1983 after graduating from college. He attended Lehigh University and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and Finance in 1983. In 1986, Tom passed the Series 7 and Series 63 examinations to license him to buy and sell investment securities while representing a broker-dealer. In 1988, Tom completed the curriculum required to receive a Chartered Financial Consulting designation from the American College. In 1989, he completed the courses required to earn the Chartered Life Underwriter designation. In 1995, dropped his broker-dealer affiliation so he could transition from selling commission based investment products to fee-only investment advice for a registered investment advisor, Fidelity Federal Planning Corporation. Tom is long-time member of the American Society of Pension Professionals and Actuaries (ASPPA).
Tom manages over $25 million in assets and manages the administration of over 30 401k profit sharing plans. The investments used in building portfolios are usually mutual funds, although stocks, bonds and ETFs are also included. Tom meets with plan trustees to discuss available investments, analyze performance and adjust portfolios. He often educates plan participants on investment decisions, retirement goals and proper planning.
Tom has been married to his wife, Mary Jo, for over 25 years and has two boys and one girl. He has developed a passion for coaching ice hockey as he coached his boys growing up. He has leveraged his success as a youth hockey coach where he is now the head coach of Lehigh University’s ice hockey team and spends 2 evenings a week and weekends in Bethlehem, PA coaching young men.
